Hello, I’m Valarie, mother to three very creative children and wife to an equally kind and inventive husband.
Welcome to the wonderful
world of book jumping.
What’s a book-jumper? I started using the word
“book-jumper” several years ago when I needed a more appropriate way to describe
our highly active book club.
I discovered I was a book-jumper at the age of 7 , when after reading Pippi Longstockings, I realized that I too could have my red hair braided with wire. From that point forward I lived in every page that I read. A good story should never stay on the page. Luckily, my parents and siblings agreed and we had many wonderful and wild adventures from the stories we were reading.
Fast forward many years to the time when my own children started reading. Book-jumping always starts with a simple question. “Mom, can you make us honey toast like Winnie-the-pooh?” “Momma, can you sew me a sun bonnet like the one Laura wears in “Little House on the Prairie?” Other times it comes in the form of a statement,” Mom, I want to look like tinker-bell.” It was after these sorts of questions that I realized that I had some up and coming book-jumpers.
This site is a place for us to share our book loving memories and adventures.
Something to do book review: Here you will get a look into some of the books that we’ve read. These books come in many topics, varieties, and age groups. Unlike most book reviews, we give you a sneak peek into the story by jumping into it with an activity. Please let us know what you think of the book in our comments section. If you find a book that you really like, please let someone else know about it. The best way to do this is to get them a copy and read it to each other. There is no better bond to family and friendship than to read a-loud.
Books into Movies: So many of our favorite books have been turned into movies. Enjoy a short preview of the movie and decide for yourself if it’s something you might like to see.
Booklists: We love to share what we are reading and what we loved reading. There are always more books to read than time to read them in.
From the Garrett: We love to know more about authors and illustrators. They are the true magic makers of this site and the inspiration for all of our book-jumping. Here is where we honor our favorites.
I’m so glad you’ve decided to drop by and spend some time with us here. I read all of your comments and enjoy them so much. If you have a specific question on an activity please email me directly so that it won’t get missed. I’m glad you’re here.
Yours,
Valarie
