Well I almost missed it. Last week had been a very difficult week with a very sick Mimi. Days seemed to be filled with a million things to do all calling me away from the task at hand. The weekend continued to have it's moments of frustrations and on top of everything the air conditioning broke. So now the option was to be hot, sticky, and sleepless.
But this is when it happened. An unexpected moment in the middle of mayhem. I opened the window and a fresh breeze was blowing in, so I opened a few more windows.
I could clearly hear the cicadas chirping. They chirped for a good portion of the night until they gave way to the crickets. Just before the bird song started there was complete silence. I never realized or maybe I have just now taken notice of these beautiful patterns of the night. The silence was stunning.
As the transition continues into a cooler season, I'm opening the windows to let more awareness into my sleeptime. It was so nurturing and so restful. Happy September First. Let's open our windows and celebrate.
